JEWISH MONUMENTS IN SÁTORALJAÚJHELY
Vilmos Alexander and Mór Deuts Jr.’s Bookstore and Printing House, memorial plaque
9 Rákóczi Street

In the late nineteenth century, several Jewish bookstores and printing houses opened Sátoraljaújhely. The publications, books, and postcards which they made and sold offer insights into the life of the city at the turn of the century.

In 2019, as part of the Remembrance Program, a memorial plaque was placed on the wall of Vilmos Alexander and Mór Deuts Jr.’s former Bookstore and Printing House.

This plaque, which conjures a postcard image of yesteryear, offers a memorial to the many Jewish merchants, craftsmen, and servitors active in the street in Sátoraljaújhely which was once home to Jewish shops and businesses.
